Leave voters better at detecting ‘fake news’ and have higher IQ, say academics

Leave voters are better at detecting ‘fake news’ and are more intelligent, British academics have announced.

Professor John Bumfield from University of Oxbridge led the study, and told Newscrasher: “Our groundbreaking study looked at the social media and reading habits of British voters, in order to examine how different demographic groups keep abreast of the news, and how they deal with ‘fake news'”.

“Our conclusions will come as no surprise to most Britons. Remain voters, particularly the younger ones, tend to be stuck in a social media bubble and see only one version of the facts, but Leave voters often read a variety of different sources and thus are exposed to a variety of alternative facts.”

“Leave voters have higher IQs are highly adept at using multiple sources to form a balanced opinion. For example, they might buy the Daily Mail on Monday, the Mirror on Tuesday, and the Daily Express for the rest of the week, giving them a broad overview of everything that’s going on, free from the kind of Remainer bias that social media addicted youngsters often have.”

“When we tested people of all ages and political persuasions, and found that Leave voters are 75 % more likely to detect which stories are ‘fake news’ and which are real, which suggests that Leave voters are already inoculated against the dark propaganda of left wing, anti-British media outlets.”

Professor Bumfield added: “Several decades of watching the evening news and reading the papers means that older people are uniquely qualified to make the correct choice about the future of the country. Sadly, this fact is all too often overlooked by the young, whose future the older generations have just secured thanks to voting to leave the risky European Union project.”

  1. Wondered if this was Newthump style story or real. Yep, the ‘Professor’ is made up, along with ‘the research’.
